STORY OF THE HOAGIE MAN:
GROWING UP IN SOUTH PHILADELPHIA I WAS SURROUNDED BY SOME OF THE BEST SANDWICH SHOPS IN THE WORLD. THE TASTE AND THE FLAVORS WERE SECOND TO NONE TO ME.
WHEN I MOVED OUT TO VEGAS 6 YEARS AGO I WAS AMAZED THAT A CITY WITH SO MANY RESTAURANTS AND DELI’S HAD SUCH A POOR SELECTION OF QUALITY SANDWICHES. SOME PLACES HAD HIGH QUALITY MEATS WITH POOR BREAD. OTHERS HAD DECENT BREAD WITH LOW QUALITY MEATS. THERE WAS NO ‘HAPPY PLACE’ FOR ME OR MY FAMILY.
MY SON AND I WERE TIRED OF MISSING OUT ON OUR FAVORITE FOODS AND WE FELT THAT A LOT OF THE EAST COAST PEOPLE WHO MOVED OUT TO VEGAS FELT THE SAME WAY. WE WERE TIRED OF GOING TO ONE PLACE FOR COLD CUTS, ANOTHER PLACE FOR CHEESE STEAKS, YET ANOTHER FOR A GOOD ROAST BEEF OR PORK, AND SO ON. WE KNEW WE COULD DO BETTER. THE PEOPLE OF VEGAS DESERVE TO HAVE A QUALITY SANDWICH SHOP. WE KNEW WE COULD MAKE A PLACE WHICH WAS ONE STOP SHOPPING FOR ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES. A PLACE WHERE EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. A PLACE THAT IS WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY. A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN COME AND BE TREATED LIKE FAMILY.
A GREAT SANDWICH STARTS WITH GREAT BREAD. WE HEARD ALL THE STORIES “YOU CAN’T GET DECENT BREAD OUT HERE”, “THERE ISN’T ENOUGH HUMIDITY”,”THE ELEVATION”, “YOU HAVE TO SHIP IN THE WATER FROM NEW YORK”. WE SPENT OVER A YEAR WITH BAKERS IN THE AREA TO COME UP WITH AN ARTESIAN BREAD WHICH WE FEEL IS THE BEST IN VEGAS.
THE NEXT STEP WAS TO PUT A SUPERIOR PRODUCT INTO THE BREAD. AS FAR AS COLD CUTS GO, WE DECIDED AFTER A LOT OF TESTING AND CALORIES TO GO WITH THUMANN’S DELI MEATS. THUMANN’S HAS BEEN AN EAST COAST STAPLE FOR YEARS. MOST SANDWICH SHOPS STOP THERE, BUT WE WANTED TO BE DIFFERENT AND BETTER THAN THE REST OF OUR COMPETITION. WE DECIDED TO ADD PHILLY CHEESESTEAKS, SAUSAGE, MEATBALLS,CHICKEN CUTLETS, AND SLOW COOKED BEEFS AND PORKS(COOKED AT LOW TEMP FOR OVER 10 HOURS). WE CALL THOSE SANDWICHES OUR WORLD FAMOUS HOTS.
